Italian Studies at Illinois is an interdisciplinary and flexible program that offers a unique training both at the undergraduate and graduate level. We value a critical approach to the study of Italian culture within a historical and global context, and encourage our students to pursue their specific interests through highly individualized plans of study.
The areas of expertise of our core faculty range from visual culture to contemporary political theory, from modern Italian history to Medieval and Renaissance literature and culture, from twentieth-century literature to Mediterranean Studies.
